Seafood plays an important role in Seward’s food culture, with locally caught salmon and halibut commonly featured on restaurant menus. The city’s working harbor supports commercial fishing as well as recreational charter operations, connecting local dining with the surrounding waters. Seward is also known for its collection of outdoor murals, many of which depict Alaska’s wildlife, landscapes, and local history. Another notable feature is the Iditarod Trail monument near the waterfront, marking the beginning of a historic route that once connected Seward with communities farther north.
